Science works on the frontier between knowledge and ignorance. We’re not afraid to admit what we don’t know. There’s no shame in that. The only shame is to pretend we have all the answers.

It would be easy to dismiss Episode 2 of COSMOS as simply “The Evolution Episode”; the first episode to really deal with those big issues that are likely to trigger the ire of Creationists. And whilst this episode certainly represents a push-back against the encroachment of religion in the scientific domain, there is a great deal more to be valued in the subtext.
